Pointless but amusing gaming-writing-cat-vacuuming.

Organised some gardening thought.

Vacuumed living room rug.

Found the weights that [info]teinedreugan got me, did two full sets with the three-pounders.

Distracted by tattoo-related thoughts and my right hip at some length.

Scalded fingertips on leaky hot water tap while showering.

Fed snakie and refilled his humidifier.

Miscellaneous other.

Was (in a sort of quiet desperation way) consumed by angst.

Busybusy.

Cat-vacuuming? Doesn't that kinda bug them?

Cat-vacuuming is a rec.arts.sf.composition term, though I suppose it doesn't necessarily limit itself to the realm of writing.

It's the specific form of displacement activity that consists largely of stuff that really, truly, could be construed as useful (especially to the thing one is avoiding doing), but generally only if one squints.

Derived somewhat from the notion that rather than vacuum up cat hair all the time, maybe one should just vacuum the cat, when combined with the, "Oh, but I can't work now. I have to clean the sink, and fill the dishwasher, and reorganise my business cards, and goodness gracious me, how long has it been since I vacuumed the cat?"
