All about the random italics.
I am utterly unproductive in the practical sense.

I should turn off the 'Senate Victory' toggle condition for Masters of Orion. I keep getting elected Senate President and I don't want to. There are other, more interesting ways of trying to win the game. I could play it at a harder level, I suppose, but I don't know that that would give me different wins, or just more frustrating losses.

I made Successful Experimental Food today. That being: I added sliced canned peaches to my usual stir-fry, just at the end of the cooking process so they didn't cook so much as get warmed up. And it was good. So good. I'd missed peaches. But canned ones I can eat.

So I fed me SEF, and also [info]teinedreugan and [info]keshwyn (whose kitchen I was using at the time) and also sort of incidentally [info]mindways, who commiserated about the peach-itch. And then the three of us (less the incidental) watched The Neverending Story, with incidental commentary comparing bits to the book and postscript bits of Tennyson.

Must get back to work. Must attempt to de-angst angst processors. Probably must go to sleep RSN.

Is there an implication there that you can't eat fresh peaches? Or just that the ones available now aren't ripe?

Anyway, I simmer canned peaches in their juices, with brown sugar, nutmeg and a bit of rum.... delicious.

To a first approximation, all raw fruits and raw veggies (but not, as far as I know, raw berries) give me a histamine reaction -- the milder ones give me a vague itchy feeling in my mouth and throat; more severe reactions start making my throat swell up. Most of them don't give me trouble when they're cooked, though I tend to avoid carrots in principle because of the severity of the swelling when they're raw.

Peaches of the raw sort make my mouth itch so much I can't actually taste them.

I may try the simmer-in-juice thing sometime, now that I'm sure I can eat them; that sounds goooood.
